Bulger Trial Update: Dirty FBI agent takes the stand

John Morris took the stand at the Whitey Bulger trial to tell of his dealings with the former Boston mobster and Winter Hill gang boss. Morris now retired testified that he did accept gifts and money from Bulger in exchange for signing off on misleading reports about information Bulger was sharing with the feds and for helping to feed sensitive information back to Bulger. Morris previously testified in 2008 against Bulger’s former FBI handler John Connolly who was convicted for setting in motion the 1982 murder of John B. Callahan the World Jai Alai president. During his testimony Morris confirmed that Bulger was indeed an FBI informant even though Bulger continues to deny the allegation and claims he simply paid dirty FBI agents for information.

When Morris was asked about Bulger being a former FBI informant Bulger muttered under his breath “you’re a f—ing liar” says a CNN reporter inside the court room. Morris looking quite sheepish and red faced on the stand avoided eye contact with Bulger who glared at him steadily through out his entire time on the stand. Prosecutors insist that Bugler was an informant and supplied the FBI with information on the Italian Mafia in Boston. Bulgers defense claims he was never an informant and their claim is consistent with the murder of Callahan but also the tip in 1995 that allowed Bulger to escape his pending indictment. The Bulger camp believes that Bulger would of been in no position to supply the feds with any meaningful information on the Italians who are infamous for doing business only among themselves and not allowing outsiders to know any information that could be damaging to them.
