Gambino Crime Family Has New Underboss

The Gambino crime family now has a new underboss. Sources confirm that powerful Sicilian born capo Frank Cali has been named as the new mob family underboss.

Cali age 47 has been noted by authorities as a rising star with in the crime family. Cali was appointed by new Gambino family boss Domenico “Italian Dom” Cefalu who is also a Sicilian born mobster giving the Gambino family a new Sicilian faction leadership base. Cali is also the nephew of Gambino family capo John Gambino himself a long respected leader of the crime family.

“Frank Cali”

Cali’s bump up in rank comes just after he recently completed three years of supervised probation which followed a 16 month prison sentence on extortion charges. Cali and Cefalu along with family consigliere Bartolomeo “Bobby Glasses” Vernace also with roots in Sicily round out the top spots now for the Gambino family. Sources say the growing influence in the family of the Sicilian faction has been evident for years. John Gambino headed a delegation which met with leaders of the Philadelphia Mafia last year showing their key roles with in the family.

Law enforcement sources say the base of operations for Cali , Cefalu , and other high ranking Gambino mobsters is centered in Bensonhurst on 18th Avenue. As the Gambino family leadership roles once again become stabilized you can bet the feds are already pinning targets on each of them. Will be interesting to see how long of a run the current regime can stay in place for and if they can rebuild the power of the crime family after the recent hits by the feds.
