Daniel Farma a Gambino family associate has been charged for his role in the 1990 mafia hit on demolition contractor Edward “Eddie the Chink” Garofalo outside of his home in Brooklyn.
The feds claim that this was the last hit ordered by notorious Gambino crime family boss John Gotti. He suspected that Garofalo may have been a rat cooperating with the feds against him and the Gambino family. According to the feds, Farma was part of the hit team that was orchestrated by Gambino mobster Salvatore “Sammy Bull” Gravano on orders from Gotti. Gravano would later himself become a turncoat and testify for the feds to put Gotti in prison for life.

The feds have yet to reveal the new evidence they have obtained that prompted the new charges against Farma after all these years. Farma was picked up by the feds and was arraigned on the new murder charges where he pleaded no guilty and now remains in jail pending a bail hearing. Farma has done a previous prison stretch for racketeering charges and was released in 2009. Preet Bharara the Manhattan US Attorney said at a press conference that any attack against someone who is or is suspected of working with law enforcement of any kind will be strongly answered no matter how long it may takes. According to Farma’s defense attorney Fred Sosinksy he had turned his life around after being released from prison and is now working hard as part owner of a quarry company.
