It has once again been a very interesting year for the mafia also known as Cosa Nostra across the country. Some mafia families have begun to re-establish themselves with stable hierarchies in place while others continue on in a state of disarray.
The American mafia has decreased in size over the last couple of decades, but the remaining families continue to run various rackets generating millions of dollars in illegal proceeds. Over the past year, many of the mob families have seen changes at the top of their respective hierarchies due to law enforcement efforts , death natural or otherwise, or movement in a new direction.
About the mafia has put together an up to date list of the 2016 mafia leaders for some of the organized crime families still in existence across the country. It lists the current mafia family bosses along with other alleged members which fill the ranks and help to run their respective families. The information found in a list comes from various sources, including both knowledgeable mob sources, law enforcement, and news reports among others. Although Cosa Nostra is not the secret society it once was these lists are not an exact science, but we strive to be as accurate as possible. In the Gambino family I thought Frank Cali is the new boss, I believe there was an article on here a few months ago on that.
There have been reports of him moving in too the top spot although they are still unsubstantiated i think the article mentioned and that is likely why he is still “officially” considered underboss. Have yet to see any thing from feds or any credible street source confirm that he was boss just a couple sources citing rumors etc so far at least.
You know I was just reading another article apparently Jerry Capeci had a source tell him Cali was the new boss, but said 3 of his other sources disagreed.
Yes seems that is the take from quite a few mob insiders as to who is the boss now. My guess is the family is likely in a transitional period and Cefalu is still officially the boss but Cali is taking on more and more of the day to day operations and slowly but surely will be taking the reigns.

Richard fusco died a couple of years ago , Matthew Madonna was indicted as lucchese underboss and Joseph caridi is allegedly not the lucchese consigliere anymore . As for the bonnano family Mancuso isn’t boss in my opinion , he isn’t well liked and the Bronx faction of the family is non existent
