According to Rogers Media, a new six-part true crime drama series called Bad Blood: The Vito Rizzuto Story which chronicles the life of Vito Rizzuto and the Rizzuto crime family is coming this fall.
The new mafia show is based on the book Business or Blood: Mafia Boss Vito Rizzuto’s Last War written by Peter Edwards and Antonio Nicaso. The new series will be broadcast this fall in English on FX and City and then in French on Radio-Canada. The Vito Rizzuto story will feature acting star Anthony LaPaglia in the lead role as the legendary Montreal mafia boss. It will also feature stars Paul Servino from Goodfellas as Nick Rizzuto Sr. and Kim Coats from Sons of Anarchy as right-hand man Declan Gardiner.
The series was filmed in Montreal and according to the announcement principal photography has been completed. This should be a very interesting look into what has become one of the more interesting mafia families. The ongoing Montreal mafia war continues to make headlines as the potential demise of the once-powerful Rizzuto family continues to play out. Here is an official description of the upcoming series:
“When Rizzuto is suddenly arrested and extradited to Colorado’s Supermax Prison for the 1981 murders of three Bonanno crime family members, the powerful empire he built begins to crumble. Rizzuto watches helplessly as his family and friends are killed one by one. Upon his release from prison in October 2012, a Shakespearean-level revenge tale unfolds, leading to the brutal murders of his closest companions, and ultimately, to the death of Rizzuto himself.”

This sounds like it could be a pretty damn good watch! Hopefully they do a good job on this script and keep it as factual as possible as they def have some solid acting talent lined up for it. Will def be looking forward to checking this out.
agreed, i cant stand when they make movies, but they get all the facts wrong and details wrong (Donnie Brasco) if you get a chance you should read the book Business or Blood: Mafia Boss Vito Rizzuto’s Last War awsome
You can best believe this will be half truths exaggerations and outright false facts. Sure there will be SOME truth to it.
probably, have you guys ever seen the movie ICE man with about Kukinsky. after seing the hbo documentary and reading the book. pretty hard to sit threw the movie…
Lets all hope they stick as closely to the facts as possible. Of course we can expect some adjusting of course because well it always happens I just hope they don’t over do it and mess the whole damn thing up. As the reference you mentioned Cedz.
Agreed, that movie was awful. The real stories are already great stories, why mess it up?
Exactly these stories on facts alone are great and plenty interesting enough there is no real need to “hollywood” em up yet they continue to do it anyway far too often.
I said this a couple months ago i’m glad someone was listening, I wish they had Scorsese and Terence winter for exec producers.
