Bonanno family capo Vincent Asaro busted in latest mafia raid

Authorities have indicted seven alleged New York mafia members and associates including Bonanno crime family captain Vincent Asaro and John Gotti on various charges including arson and bank robbery according to a report from NY Daily news.

Asaro was acquitted by a jury on charges linked to the infamous Lufthansa heist just 16 months ago. Gotti the grandson of the infamous “Dapper Don” is already behind bars after being sentenced to 8 years on drug charges just three weeks ago. It is being called a mix of new and old school mob with Asaro facing arson charges and Gotti facing charges from a 2012 bank robbery according to authorities.

According to the indictment Gotti and co-defendants, Michael Guidici and Matthew Rullan conspired to rob the Maspeth Savings and Loan Association. It also states the arson charges against both Asaro and Rullan stem from an incident that took place back in 2012. The 81-year-old mobster wasn’t able to enjoy his stunning acquittal for long before being hit with these new charges. Asaro somehow beat the wrap even after being caught on recordings talking about the heist by his cousin Gaspare Valenti who turned rat. It seems like he may once again need some of that magic if he plans to beat the wrap once again.

It is still unclear as to what extent that Gotti was involved with the NY mafia if at all and whether or not he was an associate of any particular Cosa Nostra family. The indictment links Rullan with criminal activities involving both Asaro and Gotti although it is not clear if the two had any other ties.
