Anthony “Skinny” Santoro a reputed soldier in the Bonanno crime family is making a rather curious bid for a better plea deal offer from the feds. In a letter to Judge Melissa Jackson Santoro describes his propensity to talk crazy and even stupidly at times is actually a therapeutic technique he learned and that prosecutors are inaccurately trying to portray him as being violent. He claims this technique actually keeps him from acting out in a negative way and he is simply misunderstood.
“Anthony Santoro“
He is locked up on charges of enterprise corruption, illegal gambling, and extortion and is looking at a plea deal of 9 to 18 years behind bars which he deemed as outrageously high. In his letter he implores for the judge to step in and settle things fairly since he doesn’t believe he is guilty of enterprise corruption and is ready to plea to one of the underlying charges. Wiretap evidence tells a different story of these “therapy” sessions that the New York mafia soldier claims to have according to prosecutors.
The 52 year old mobster was recorded on wiretap talking to a mob associate saying “I’m gonna split his f–king head with a hatchet,” he fumed to an associate about one foe, according to court papers.“I’ll put two holes in his f–king forehead. I’ll double-tap his forehead right now!” Although defense laywer Tim Parlatore that his client simply describes himself as being tough but is all bark and no bite and is really nothing more then a big cream puff.
Santoro was busted along with fellow mobsters including Bonanno family captain Nicky “Cigars” Santora back in 2013. Santora inspired the character played by now deceased Bruno Kirby in the hit mafia movie “Donnie Brasco” back in 1997.

How dare prosecutors paint him in a violent light by those wire tap comments alone , i mean he is really just one big cream puff. Right lol
this made me laugh so typical only a mobster would come up with an excuse like
52 and only a soldier? Must not be an earner or very important
no 52 and a soldier is normal if you look the majority of the capos in the mafia are 60 + alot of familys guys dont get made till they are in there 40s and 50s only up and comers get made early VERY few mobsters get made before they are 35 sure i know it happens like ronnies kid who was made capo at 35 and got his button at 26 but that was because his father proposed him and bellomo got made at 20 but thats because tony was doing it as a favour to his fathers. Alot of guys dont join till they are in there 30s and 40s the mafia is NOT a young mans game its guys look at stanio in philly did not even get connected till mid 40s The genovese family dont make most of there members until they are in there 50s and 60s only up and comers are made early capos are mainly in there 70s you also forget there is not many capo spots in the mafia there is around 90 capo slots in the new york mafia and 700 made guys in new york who have to fill them the older you are THE MORE RESPECT you get
There have been TONS of guys around 50 or less as capo’s, or boss. Luciano, Gotti, Bellomo, gigante, napolitano, montagna, Michael franzese, persico, gravano, Casso, amuso, Cali, I could literally name 200 just off the top of my head. I do agree that there are fewer capo positions now. Real earners get promoted unless they turn it down. I appreciate your insight, I just dont think it’s entirely accurate
There have been over the years but there r no captains today that r under 40 , the gambinos have a couple of young capos , Andrew campos is in his 40s as is Luis filipelli who was acting for funzi sisca , the bonnano’s have little Anthony pipitone , most of the youngish capos r acting for there older counterparts
Campos is only actng capo as well as filipelli….Martino will likely become skipper of tht crew. …..Campos can’t out earn Martino plus Martino is proven, not to tke anythng frm Campos but as an big tme earner thres no comparison ..but yeah they are more younger capos in the colombos & bonnanos because of high ranking members flipping…..i wonda if the bonnanos or the colombos can regain bck sme of it’s respect it had when joe bananas was boss or profaci. .ijs
i think the bonnano family lost respect because of joe bananas with the way he acted in the 60s and that book he wrote in the 80s
colambos have a chance to rebuild they have some big time players getting out of prison so things will get interesting
Lucanio, gotti ,bellomo, gravano etc that was a LONG time ago LOOK at all the capos TODAY. I said the MAJORITY of capos are 50 + . Like Dom said there are a few young guys I’m capo postition and a few young guys who are acting as capos like allie shades kid.
READ my post again. You say you can name 200 maybe in the past but can you name more than 15 capos in New York who are under 50 once you do that then I will say your post is accurate. Your info of the mafia is strong up to 2005 after that you have to look up a bit more before you post these things because the mafia is very different now than it was ten years ago I am not trying to prove I am jerry capeci I am not I am saying FACTS here
Allow me to quote my original post. “52 and only a solider, must not be an earner”. Dom just said it, Colombos and Bonnanos make young guys. You both then confirmed my point yet again by stating capos are. Typically 50 plus. Santoro is 52. Thus my original post stands true. At 52, in THAT family, he should be a capo or acting. Because he’s not, it’s likely because he’s not a big earner. God knows that family has spots open, they can’t stay out of prison.
As I stated before, I agree fewer capo spots today, that’s a fact. I also agree Genovese and gambinos are more cautious with promoting. But this article is on the Bonnanos. They made several capos around 50. Thus, 52 and not a capo in the Bonnanos is a little telling.
While you are not Capeci, you are clearly knowledgable. I enjoy this forum because I learn new things. That being said, my complaint is “how” you comment. Everyone else post in respectful ways. You always interject with a condescension and “I’m always right” tone. You argue nearly every post, and you are “always” right. I appreciate your knowledge, again, you clearly know a lot. I do not argue your insight at all. But perhaps phrase your rebuttals more respectfully.
i am not always right i am wrong sometimes with my facts yes that happens i am not trying to argue with anyone i try to state my point and why i disagree i am not trying to annoy anyone just trying to say why i think there wrong sometimes if it is facts they have got completly wrong i argue strongly yes but when its a theory for example dom who is prob one of the most if not the most knowledgeable guys here he belives bellomo is the boss i disagree now that is my view and that is his i respect his opion and i can be easily wrong. When it comes to facts i might have that tone but thats because it has been proven but when it is a theory i do not try to have a “i am always right tone” i am sorry if i come of that way
Regardless, i appreciate your insight and expertise
Off topic, any idea when last nyc mafia hit on made guy was?
made guy enzo “the baker” stagno bonnano soldier got shot in 2013 lucheses tried to kill him i hear he is now close with some big time guys in the bonnano family
associate who knows alot of these guys get hit off rhe record no one asks questions the last assoicate to get hit that i know of which i hear was sanctioned was micheal medlish in 2013.
Lol there is an age range when u make capo? Omg dude ur a tool
The Colombo and bonnano families have always made young guys to try and swell there ranks and keep up with the other 3 families , they have historically gone with quantity over quality , there was even a beef with the lucchese family a few years ago were the bonnano’s were msking guys on the sneak and not circulating names . That’s part of the reason those two family’s have had so many rats . I agree with what u said on the genovese family , the average age of that family has got to be 65 , not many guys have there button in that family under 40
True. The problem with the lucheses and bonnanos that was when enzo “the baker” stagno got shot
