Vincent Asaro an alleged Bonanno crime family mobster has been found not guilty by a jury after a three-week long trial.
Asaro was charged with racketeering, which included claims he helped plan the 1978 Lufthansa Heist at Kennedy International Airport along with murder and extortion. He was found not guilty on all charges in Federal District Court in Brooklyn today. Prosecutors alleged that the third generation New York mafia member had committed murder, shakedowns, and robbery on behalf of the mafia.

The prosecution claims were rejected by the jury dealing an unexpected blow to the Eastern District of New York’s United States attorney’s office. Even with what seemed to be damning testimony from Asaro’s cousin turned rat Gaspare Valenti prosecutors were unable to make their case stick. Valenti agreed to become an informant back in 2008 and wore a wire recording hundreds of hours of conversations with Asaro and other Bonanno family mobsters.
The trial also featured testimony from other NY mafia turncoats including former Bonanno family underboss Salvatore Vitale. Defense attorneys for Asaro seems to have been successful in discrediting the witnesses against their client by blasting them professional rats who testified in exchange for government cash.
Wow i have to admit i am shocked at the verdict. Asaro seemed all but done with all of the stuff Valenti supplied to prosecutors. The guy should def buy a lotto ticket today!

I’m as surprised as he was. The jury did what they were SUPPOSE to do. He wasn’t guilty beyond a “shadow of a doubt” by any means. I may not believe in his innocence but all they had was “he said she said BS”.
Seems they def didn’t buy the testimony from Valenti and Vitale etc as that seemed like if they did would of been enough to convict.

funny thing was that the government were going to put massimo on stand but decided not to because they were so confident he would get found guilty
everyone is shocked but though i have given vinny alot of stick i give him credit where it deservs he won this trial he will go into retirement now

Right Dom , I am completely shocked he was found not guilty. Looking at all the evidence and the testimony and the plea of his son as you mentioned this one if puzzling to say the least.

Wonder if he can get those Food Stamps now. If the jury belived his story maybe Social Services will now. Anyway,the Feds can’t buy a good Snitch now or at least going back to Gotti Jrs time. What more can they do or show a jury?
This is definitely a head scratcher esp considering there seemed to be some decent wire tap evidence in which Valenti could corroborate on the stand.

vinny is no longer bonanno family he cant pay anyone of he has been shelved. Tommy D and Jack B both got time in the can for loansharking because of vinny and those tapes plus his son got 8 years alot of guys hate vinny if this had been years ago he would have been whacked but these days he will get shelved and live the rest of his life in retirement
if tommy and jack could not pay of a jury vinny defo couldn’t and to be honest even if vinny could no one would help him most prob hoped he would get convicted

Yea that is a possible assumption I still think they got connections in the government but I do believe you on the part were vin is going into retirement especially after all the heat he just took with the media.
vinny could not go back even if he wants to he will prob go into he will defo go into retirement.
