After some bumps in the road it seems the John Gotti movie is back on track moving toward a January production start. The Gotti biopic is now set to be directed by Kevin Connolly and to feature John Travolta as the former New York mafia crime boss. Connolly directed episodes of the hit HBO series “Entourage” along with the ESPN documentary Big Shot. The movie is based on the book Shadow of My Father
The Gotti movie project has been attached to some well known Hollywood elite’s like Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan, Barry Levinson, and Nick Cassavetes among others none of which worked out. The movie originally named Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father is said to be moving toward a January production start. Financing for the movie is being supplied by Herrick Entertainment, Fiore Films, and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films. The film will be released domestically by Lionsgate Premiere through its deal with E/F/O. Both Travolta and Connolly are believed to be attending this years Toronto International Film Festival to drum up interest in foreign sales.
Seems like this may finally be a go. Will be interesting to see how much detail they go into in this movie and what kind of angles they take as to the mafia side of things.
Conolly did ok with a few entrouage episodes but a major picture? Travolta wearing a silvery blue Gotti wig?? Fck it I wil pay just to see that ????… Stallone as Scarpa I dont think that movie will do well even with Pillegi writing,,, Black Mass should be good
I plan on watching it as well as i am also interested to see if Travolta can actually pull of Gotti. Def going to see Black Mass as well as i find majority of Depp movies to be solid.
Depp’s make up looks ludicrous in black mass and the guy cannot play tough to save his life, he can act, just not tough!

Oh of course it goes without saying the ‘tache was all man, (look at Magnum PI for god’s sake) but to be honest he was scarier in Edward Scissorhands!!
They will make John gotti into a saint I mean junior is helping to make the film
To be fair junior went through a lot esp in the 2000s feds got obsessed with the gotti name bent some rules to get him and using alite was a disgrace

Hopefully they don’t butter up the Gotti character and make this unwatchable, if they keep to telling things straight (although unlikely) it could be a pretty good watch i think.
Travolta cant pull off Gotti,, its going to be a joke,,, I think Armand Assante played a good Gotti,,
Assante was spot on and this movie will be hard pressed to match the quality of that one , no doubt about it. I am not ready to write off Travolta just yet but a tough task for sure.
I liked the other Gotti movie as well but they painted Gotti a little too good,, the scene where he fed Angelo canoli cream off his fingers in the hospital ,, lol,, but ur right Assante was great,,,Travolta can play A gangster in get shorty but that was tongue in cheek,,, i cant think of a guy who can play gotti,,, Sizemore before the drugs maybe ,,,
Haha that was hilarious that scene the film was ok but very unreaslstic missed out a lot did not capture the real gotti he hated angelo at the end and I mean it forget what junior said john wanted angelo dead and sammy said leave it the guy is dying of cancer angelo kept begging for John to visit and he never did 😀 John used to love anglo but he is just trouble the tapes in his house(I mean he was talking on his own phone) he talked about paul and the commission those tapes helped the Feds destroy the commission, be dealt herion, he was the reason for pauls death, he was always talking about other guys and when in prison he had casso shot anglo was very dumb and at the end john was sick of him sammy and the others had to practically drag john to anglos funeral this why the scene cracks me up

Agreed, he played Gotti well. Although I will watch it, I believe it’s a straight to DVD movie. At least in terms of quality. Black mass will likely be good, I just don’t like how previews are saying ” most feared gangster of all time.” I laughed so hard at that. Roy Demeo, tommy pitera had that covered.
Roy himself wasnt that feared it was his crew that made him,, he was just some fat paranoid nut who had Ninos backing for awhile,, Tommy Pitera was a pyscho ,,Scarpa was bonafide nuts and I think without the FBI backing still was a scary bastard he just wouldnt have survived so long,,, Casso was another guy who would shoot first ask questions later,,Carmine Persico another ruthless guy people were definitly afraid of ,, the most scary ,,, Carlo Gambino,, he could punch ur ticket and no one could sit down and plead ur case if he wanted it done,, real OG ( had to say it ) ????
Casso was a ravenous murderer. Persico was treacherous, flipped sides in Gallo wars. No doubt Carlo was the baddest man on the planet during his day. Arguably the most powerful American boss ever.
Persico also did alot of hits personally,, seems the smaller the guy the most dangerous,, napoleon complex ????
I think Pitera was most sadistic. Brutal guy. Albert Anastasia ordered a ton through murder inc.

I think at his peak Carlo was arguably one of the most powerful men in America,, he could shut down ports .. Stop trucking .. Screw around with construction in most major cities ,, etc ,, its truly amazing the power he had,, a major movie about him is whats needed
His power was unparalleled. Last of his kind.
Armand assante ( gotti ) is my favorite all time movie. It’s going to be hard to top that one .but if they can ,and they can make john travolta as bad ass and can act as good as Armand it will be good.
