Joseph Merlino is headed back to prison today this time in Miami for a four month stint on charges that he violated his supervised release. He was convicted back in 2001 on charges of racketeering and was under supervised release down in Florida. He was caught by authorities meeting with Philly mobster John “Johnny Chang” Ciancaglini at a cigar bar down in Florida in June in direct violation of his release situation.

Is Joey Merlino still the boss of the Philadelphia mafia ? Well according to Joey he has retired from the life and maintains no more mafia ties but the feds don’t seem so convinced. Seems the feds still believe that Skinny Joey is still tied directly into things in Philly and is running things using his right hand man and childhood friend Steven Mazzone as acting boss.
Melino with his typical flair tweeted “I’ll be in great shape for when I get out on Cinco de Mayo,” referring to his upcoming prison stint. He also found a way to get a plug in for his newly opened restaurant down in Florida tweeting “I can’t wait to go,” he texted. “I need a vacation after working so hard at the best restaurant in Florida, Merlino’s Restaurant.”
I just can’t help but think the reason they have put Merlino in jail for this bullshit parole violation is because the Feds have something bigger up there sleeve if they have they can bring new charges while he is saftly locked up , the nicedemo trial starts in March and if he decides to flip there all in big trouble
Could be i just think feds hate Joey and will do anything to put him a way joey is not good boss like getting in the press too much and even when he was boss he could only earn from hjaking trucks and extortion joe ligambi came at the right time and ended right time as well steve Mazzone should stay boss if i was Joey i would not come back guys like Phil Naducci and Tory Scarfei wont kick up to him and could even kill him they hate Joey Merlinio philly mob has changed alot since he was boss.
If nicedemo flips alot of guys are in trouble but I don’t think he will he has been in prison waiting trial awhile now not said a word.

Nicedemo won’t flip until the outcome of the trial , word on the street he wasn’t even the shooter , think it may change if he gets life , he defo has bargaining tools , he will know about the 3 Unsolved murders cassasanto , turchi and martorano . A lot of people will be having sleepless nights in Philly
true but he could flip but he could just as well not flip you cant tell he might loyal to the mob or he could flip alot of guys in Merlinio inner circle have never flipped i know some mob guys flip when given big senteances but there is still alot of mobsters who when given long sentences never flip.
Yearh i heard was not shooter he was the get away driver i think he is screwed to be honest cant see him beating the case they found the gun in his car. I am not so sure he knows alot about the tunchi hit but he knows awful lot about the martonano and cassasanto hits
Those guys closest to Merlino in have been solid but if Nicodemo is hit with life that can really change things. I am about 50/50 as to if he actually does flip or not he has seemingly been rock solid so far but he has yet to be to that never seeing the outside again test. Will def be interesting to see what happens post trial.
Nicodemo def has information to put a few guys in Philly away and some of which are at or near the top of the mountain so we assume they have been working hard to get him to flip. I agree with you though Dom he wont turn until he knows where he stand after trail if he gets a life sentence could def see some fireworks.
I think feds are def working on a bigger case against Joey also but clearly they haven’t made it yet which is why they settled for now on the parole violation to get him back behind bars for a bit. But they sure seem to be up to something whether or not they get there have to wait and see.

First of all if Nicodemo does flip he can’t hurt Joey Merino because Joey was in jail when most of those crimes were commited, second even if he does flip who do they have to collaborate , nobody . They do have Roger Vella but he’s an Idiot and they haven’t used him against Ligambi because he makes a horrible rat. Don’t forget Nicodemo has one of the best defense lawyers in the country Brian Mcmonagle. Even if he does get somehow convicted it will never be life, he was not the shooter. My guess he walks like uncle Joe did. Just to be clear I know most of the players and I believe they are guilty, but the Goverment is probably worse with their deals with rats and they are owned by the Elite.
well he has plead guilty but if he flips he could hurt joey merlinio as he was his driver but h could take down huge amount of guys if he flipped joe ligambini would be in very big trouble
Nicodemo was not his driver, Roger Vella was. Nicodemo was much higher in the organization. My point was that even when someone does flip and decides to cooperate the feds need a lot of collaborating witnesses. If not a good defense attorney will destroy them in court, and the feds are well aware of that as with Joe Ligambi , he got acquitted even with witnesses.
I am not sure he can’t implicate Merlino in something the feds can use , with the hard on they have for Merlino now it may not take a murder simply anything they can use for a new indictment.
