Massive organized crime raids in Canada, including “Operation Magot” led to the arrest of Leonardo Rizzuto and Stefano Sollecito two alleged pillars of the new Montreal mafia leadership group.
After the death or long time Montreal mob boss Vito Rizzuto a new Montreal mafia leadership table was formed to lead the Rizzuto crime family as it moved into the post-Vito era. Authorities in connection with the Magot operation labeled Rizzuto and Sollecito as latest heads of the mafia in Montreal. The raids targeted not only the mafia but also leaders of the Hells Angels and influential street gangs which had formed alliances with the mob.
“Francesco Arcadi“
With the two main pillars of the new Montreal mafia leadership group now off the streets, many wonder if new mob leaders will emerge. Sources close to the mob in Montreal believe that Francesco Arcadi and his top lieutenant Lorenzo Giordano as top contenders to become the new Montreal mafia leaders. Arcadi has been a long time loyal Rizzuto family member who once served as the interim leader of the family back in mid 2000’s after arrest of godfather Vito Rizzuto. Both Arcadi and Giordano were convicted during “Operation Coliseum” back in 2006 and are nearing the end of long prison sentences.
According to reports from earlier this year Acardi had sent indications to the new leadership table that he intended to take back control upon his release. Many wondered if perhaps this may have led to a power struggle between an Arcadi faction and the new era of mob leaders leading to more unrest within the Rizzuto family. With the new leadership table being partially dismantled with the recent arrests of Rizzuto and Sollecito it may open the door for Arcadi to step in unopposed and take the reigns and once again become the Rizzuto family boss.

Seems like there may very well be another power vacuum at the top of the Rizzuto Family and would make some sense if Arcadi makes a move at the big chair as he seems to be able to make a case for it although some other options may also emerge before long as they try and regroup esp short term.
Arcadi isn’t believed to be in the good graces with the rizzuto mob , in my opinion they ain’t got the boss , it’s always been Rocco sollecito since vito rizzuto died
I have seen that theory around that the old man Sollecito was running things with his son and Vito’s son kind of as front men so to say. But i wouldn’t be surprised to see Arcadi make a play for control once he gets out as he seems like that kind of mobster and i am not real sure either if Rocco is actually running things how secure the house is. The Rizzuto family seems to be in at least somewhat disarray.
They just blame him for a lot of the troubles , he was named acting boss while rizzuto was in an American prison for the 3 capos murders , one instance was rizzuto had cultivated a good relationship with the blacks but Arcadi wouldn’t deal with them so that caused resentment and friction , he was also viewed to have lost trust with the rizzutos because he cultivated a lot of the friendly relationships with the calabrians, as he was one himself , after his stint as acting boss they feel he is not a capable leader , he is also not allegedly the sharpest tool in the shed either
From all accounts he definitely seems more of a tough street level kind of guy more so then a smart and calculating one. That being said it still seems that he may have enough guys behind him to make a stink with in the Rizzuto clan if he decides to make a move. Seems when he and his top 2-3 top guys are all out there could be even more unrest in Montreal if he decides to try and step up and take what he may not have handed to him.
When this Arcadi guy gets out is he crazy enough to start the “war” that law enforcement thought would’ve already began? I ask b/c this is starting to sound like the Philly Mob,except Canadians have no probs w/all out fighting. If so,doesn’t this make the Ndranghetas just wait then finish off the Rizzutos after fighting dies down or arrested? Why kill/fightwhen thethey’re doing it for them?
I think no one would be shocked if Arcadi made a play for control and it led to violence as he seems to be a street tough kind of guy who has sat atop the family and from reports believes he deserves to be again. The Rizzuto family isn’t in great shape now and another internal war would def be disastrous and the Calabrians are likely keeping a close eye on things waiting for an opening.
There was a firebombing at a well known mob social club that has been open and under the same name /location since 97 in Toronto the other day.
So there’s definitely something brewing.
