Mafia Boss, Vito Rizzuto, Meets With New York Mobsters

After serving six years in a Colorado prison for a 1981 mob hit Montreal Mafia boss Vito Rizzuto returned to Canada.

But he did not return to his long time home and headquarters of his Mafia family in Montreal instead of flying to Toronto last Friday. The mighty Mafia family that Rizzuto heads in Montreal has been under attack over the last three years including hits on Nick Rizzuto Jr his son and his father Nicolo Rizzuto along with several other associates. The organized crime scene in Montreal has changed a lot over the last few years and the Rizzuto Crime Family and its long time boss Rizzuto may not find the support and network it once held. It is still unknown as to who is responsible for the attacks on the Rizzuto Family at least to the public.

“Vito Rizzuto”

Rizzuto still has allies as well as family in Toronto according to sources which may explain him settling there on his return to Canada. Sources have also reported that since his return Rizzuto has met with organized crime figures from New York. The Rizzuto Family is directly linked to the Bonanno Crime Family in New York with some of its members being made men in that New York Mafia Family. Some believe Rizzuto may be weighing his options and deciding whether to seek revenge against those who are responsible for the deaths of his father and son or simply retire and disappear from the criminal world he once ruled. Many Canadian Mafia insiders believe that the chances of Rizzuto simply retiring is quite unlikely.

Law Enforcement in Canada has been keeping a close eye on Rizzuto’s movements in Toronto along with the home on Antoine Berthelet Avenue back in Montreal known as “Rizzuto Row”. Back in the 1980s when Rizzuto Family rose to power many family members built high-end luxury homes on the street hence its nickname. Many await to see what happens if and when the Montreal Mafia Don returns home to Montreal.
