Here is the first episode of the new Mob Talk series featuring veteran investigative reporter Dave Schratwieser and mafia author and former Philadelphia Inquirer writer George Anastasia.
The duo teams up once again to talk about the East Coast La Cosa Nostra Enterprise racketeering case against alleged Philadelphia mafia boss Joseph “Skinny Joey” Merlino and the current state of the Cosa Nostra family in Philly. We get a rundown of what they know about the case against Merlino and where it stands as of today along with their opinions of how things play out. This case has had its share of twists and turns and now we get somewhat of an inside look at things from two guys who have covered Merlino and the Philly mafia for years.
One of the more debated questions when it comes to organized crime in Philly is whether or not Joey Merlino is still the boss and if not then who. Anastasia gives us his opinion as to how the mafia family is currently operating and if a traditional boss and mob hierarchy are even in place. The old Mob Talk series was always interesting and informative and this new series which will include Mob Talk Sitdown will hopefully be more of the same and we look forward to future episodes!

Well it is good to see those guys back together and with more Mob Talk episodes on the way and this “sitdown” thing has some potential it seems. Interesting the comments made about the basic unorganization of the organization right now and the potential that no one is really in control of things and its more or less a loose nit free for all on the streets. I guess when you think about it with the various factions that may be whats happened.
The downfall of the Philadelphia Mafia began with the murder of Angelo Bruno and the rise of Nicodemo Scarfo. It sickens me to watch these f*****g morons destroy empires. Although Joseph Ligambi brought some stability, you can only do so much with a pile of shit.
Agreed they needed a guy like Ligambi way before he made boss but he did do okay with what was left for him.
George Anastasia and Dave are good combination and enjoyed the original mob talk…..George Anastasia has connections to get inside information and guest wise guys on the shelf or hiding former wisegiys …..If George buys Joey merlino expensive dinner you never know , George bought Joey some expensive meals at exclusive South Florida restaurants…during the Nicky Skins situation few years ago….So I’m going sit back and enjoy the show
I enjoy the little episodes as well and will def be watching as these sitdown episodes come around. Always found George to be fairly well connected and informative.
I enjoy watching the old reruns of Mob Talk. I hope they keep the series going.
Glad to see Mob Talk back again. If I remember correctly “About The Mafia” showed us a preview of a documentary about the Philly Mob back in early 2016 (February) to be exact. It was called The Corrupt and the Dead, and that was over a year ago. Hopefully it still comes out soon.
