Mob Talk Sitdown: Joey Merlino, Anthony Staino, and The Pagans

In this new episode of Mob Talk Sitdown, we get a heads up on the latest Philadelphia Mafia news and more.

Mob experts George Anastasia and Dave Schratwieser check back in with some new information on mobsters Joey Merlino and Anthony Staino. While Joey is doing his two years in federal prison down in Florida he’s gotten some visitors from Philly. Seems like the local wiseguys are keeping Merlino in the loop as to what’s happening on the streets back home. The guys also take a look at a recent rally held in Northeastern Philly by the Pagans MC. Leaders including their National President Keith “Conan” Richter were in attendance. The outlaw bikers are evidently looking to regroup and could step in to fill some of the voids in various rackets that have developed from a weakening Philly mafia.

Former Philly Mob underboss Anthony Staino is out of federal prison and is on his way back home. He was once the right-hand man of acting boss Joseph Ligambi. According to both George and Dave, there doesn’t seem to be much of a place in the organization today for Staino and he doesn’t seem to want back in regardless. With Uncle Joe semi-retired and new leaders including street boss Michael “Mikey Lance” Lancelotti now in place it seems like Anthony’s Cosa Nostra career may have ended when he went away.

As the summer kicks into high gear the guys will be heading down to the Jersey Shore while the rumors continue to circulate about the work being done by the newly updated organized crime task force and potential new indictments. Perhaps there will be more happening on that front for the next episode of Mob Talk Sitdown. While things seem to be quieter than usual when it comes to the Philly Mafia that can change rather quickly.
