It has been a year since Vito Rizzuto has returned to the streets of Montreal doing so in the middle of a Mafia war that targeted the Rizzuto crime family. He has since taken back the reigns of the Montreal underworld bringing renewed peace between the opposing factions according to mafia experts in Canada. The Rizzuto clan was weakened after the murder of Vito’s son Nick Rizzuto Jr and father Nicolo Rizzuto along with other key members and many believed if Vito returned to Montreal he would soon suffer a similar fate. But Vito still had powerful and faithful allies and came back home ready to assert his authority and take back control of the streets of Montreal and piece back together his now shattered mafia family. Vito Rizzuto has once again taken his place as head of the Rizzuto clan and one of the most powerful mafiosi in Canada.
“Vito Rizzuto”
Vito’s return to power has not come with out violence and bloodshed as the Montreal mafia war waged on and Vito took revenge against his enemies. Vito and his allies struck back against the rival faction that attempted to take control from then Rizzuto’s adding to the death toll. This included the assasination of mobster Joseph Di Maulo who many mob experts believe betrayed the Rizzuto family and played a major role in the over throw attempt. Things have seeminly began to settle down in the Montreal underworld as Vito Rizzuto and his clan have taken back control of the streets and settled many scores. It is still unclear if Vito and the Rizzuto’s have cleared the lits of enemies to strike back against but for now it seems like its back to business as the family tries to rebuild and the Montreal mafia war has possbily come to an end.
It may not be an easy road back to power of old for the Rizzuto family as the Charbonneau Commission in Canada has begun to reveal links between politicians and the mafia. This will make it difficult if not impossible for Vito to re-establish some of the long held links he used in the past to his advantage. There are still many unanswered questions as to the future of the Rizzuto crime family and its boss Vito Rizzuto. At age 67 it is hard to say how much longer Vito will be able to stay on top in Montreal or who takes over after his reign ends. Can he successfully ensure a transfer of power to keep the Rizzuto family in control or does his rivals such as the Calabrian mafia based in Ontario wait for his passing to take another shot at taking control of Montreal.
