The organized crime landscape in Montreal has been in flux after the bloody Montreal mafia war and the death of Rizzuto crime family boss Vito Rizzuto.
The once powerful Rizzuto family has been weakened by the loss of many key figures and now faces new challenges as the family transitions to a new group of leaders. A new Montreal mafia leadership table has allegedly been formed to take control of the family made up of a younger generation of mobsters. This new leadership table allegedly includes new emerging leader Stefano Sollecito along with Rocco Sollecito, Nicola Spagnolo, Liborio Cuntrera, Vito Salvaggio and Leonardo Rizzuto.
The transition to this new administration has come with continued unrest and lingering problems as organized crime in Montreal continues to change. Recent fire bombings have led to rumors of possible problems within the Rizzuto family along with remaining tensions from the Toronto based Ndrangheta clans believed to have backed the rival faction in the war against Rizzuto family leaders. According to recent reports from police sources the mafia in Montreal and its new administration now have emerging troubles with the rebuilding Hells Angels to deal with. Biker gangs have long been an integral part of the complicated Montreal underworld.
According to a police sources the Hells Angels leadership has been dissatisfied with the Sollecito leadership leading to meetings between the two sides in recent days. The Hells Angels are seemingly reorganizing according to recent law enforcement reports and could once again become a force within the organized crime scene in Montreal. Former boss Vito Rizzuto had an uncanny knack for being able to settle disputes and cultivate strong relationships among the various crime groups including the cities biker gangs. It is yet to be seen if this new group of leaders will be able to maintain the current alliances between the Montreal mob and these other organizations and avoid more bloodshed in a all out power struggle.
I don’t think it would shock anyone if sooner rather then later there is more another round of violence in Montreal as someone steps up to take a shot at the weakened Rizzuto family and this new administration to see exactly what kind of grip they still have.
Regardless things aren’t great in Montreal.

It really is one of the more interesting area’s of mob activity as its so much like the old mafia heyday in NY and rest of the states. Things could pretty much jump the shark at any point and time esp with so many different groups in play.
So many groups in play because there’s more chinese, arab and black gangs that rely on the zips from montreal to support the drug trade especially the arabs theyre in major business with the ginnys they even try to own the pizza shops and dress just like the wise guys too. I know it may not be like that down there but its not just serious italian dudes up here there’s many ethnic group as Canada is made up of a bunch of foreigners I think its 1-5 people is white like with no other ethnicity in them.
Something is seriously going on in monty right now as coke, drugs and crack have stopped being pushed on our streets in tdot just pills and prescription drugs are being pushed so the top guys in monty are settling things right now and it could get really ugly from what I am hearing and seeing from results of gangs doing stick up scores around the neighborhoods a lot of money is being missed in the drug trade right now.

Not at all. The Italian mafia isn’t that strong of a presence in Canada only in Montreal they have lots of street gangs working for them and buying off of them Toronto street gangsters which are the Jamaicans the Chinese and Arabic gangs they are much stronger then any Italian group in the gta area any. I’m not about making stuff up just what’s going on here I know many things on what’s going around here. I don’t comment on anything else but gta and Montreal based stuff because it’s what I know.
The Italian mafias presence isn’t that strong in Canada? The ‘ndrangheta camera di controllo has seven plus members in the GTA alone, that’s not including the Rizzuto presence in Toronto. Montreal, Granby, Vancouver, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Hamilton all have a strong presence.

There is undoubtedly less made members in Canada than the U.S., by sheer virtue of the difference in population of the countries that is an obvious fact.
More organized, profitable, more fluidity in all facets of society, and more immune from law enforcement. So yes, more powerful in Canada.
There is one Frenchmen and one spaniard who were made, desjardin and Fernandez. One is dead one led a breakaway faction and is imprisoned. Those are the only two cases of made guys who weren’t Italian in Canada. It’s not like it’s common.

Yea, they don’t really intermingle. The rizzutos, based out of Montreal, had tentacles in Toronto, with guys who worked with the calabrese. The Rizzuto organization was fundamentally of Sicilian origin but had members who were calabrese. Rizzuto had an alliance with the Musitanos out of Hamilton (‘ndrangheta) and possibly had a hand in Johnny pops murder.
The Toronto calabrese are strictly Calabrian, tight family knit, and report directly to siderno.
The major difference is that in New York alone there are five families dividing the city, with at least two other families in close proximity (in the triboro). We have a few different groups who divide the entire country.
I’m from Toronto my entire family grew up in Montreal. Long story short this Evangelo commenter is a joke. Everything he says is complete garbage and not even remotely credible.
