Philly Mafia history and upcoming sentencing of Joey Merlino

On this episode of Mob Talk experts George Anastasia, and Dave Schratwieser take a look back at some Philadelphia mafia history and current Joey Merlino news.

The guys take a ride in the mafia time machine back to the days of the Philly mafia war in the early 1990s. The bloody battle between two factions one led by old-school mobster John Stanfa and the other but young turk Joseph Merlino is historic. It led to plenty of casualties and took the Mafia in Philadelphia into a whole new era. Joey and his young Turks eventually took control and the Philly mob has never quite been the same.

Joey is still considered to be the boss of the Cosa Nostra family although he could be heading back to prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on October 17th in New York. Skinny Joey was able to get a sweet plea offer from the feds for his role in what the feds called the East Coast LCN Enterprise. According to the details of his plea deal previous reported on here, the maximum sentence he faces is 2 years behind bars but he could end up getting much less. It looked like Joey Merlino was headed for a potentially long stay as a guest of the government until he caught a break and the feds case began to crack. According to Anastasia, there is a small chance he could walk out of the courtroom without serving any time.
