Peter Lovaglia a reputed captain in the Bonanno crime family has been arrested for an attack on the owner of a local Japanese restaurant named Takayama Sushi Lounge.
According to reports, the man was standing near the restaurant when he heard someone call out his name and was blindsided by an attacker when he turned to see who it was. The attacker who smashed the owner in the face with a cocktail glass was later identified from a photo as Peter Lovaglia by NYPD’s Organized Crime Investigative Division. Sources reported that the reputed mobster had gotten into an argument earlier that night at the restaurant but it was unclear as to the reason for it and if it included the restaurants owner.

The victim had to be taken to a local hospital after the brutal attack to get treatment for a sliced face and blinding in one eye. Reports say the victim has already had several surgeries on his face and is still in need of more to repair the damage. Lovaglia has a long history in the New York mafia and was just set free last March from federal prison after serving a two year sentence for a parole violation. He was caught by the feds meeting with high ranking Bonanno family members while on probation after an extortion conviction. He met with Florida based Bonanno captain Gerald Chilli and captain Anthony “Fat Tony” Rabito back in 2013.
Lovaglia is currently being held on a $25,000 bail according to the last reports.
The Bonanno family just can’t seem to get the light off of them and its definitely bad business all way around. That family remains pretty much a mess.

Seems that is very possible although he handled this very poorly and that common thug approach these days will only get you and ones around you in all kinds of trouble. Not to mention with all the light being shined on the Bonanno family of late this is even worse then bad timing.
true has the rep as a loose cannon though if it was a personal dispute over a family or something then in mob terms he would be expected to beat him like that though i agree he should have planned it better that sort of behavior gets you time if he is unable to make this go away he will get time
to be honest he is not the first alot of these guys lose it easily even some of the leaders i mean look at marty angelini spat on a cop and attacked his girlfriend he was the then underboss of philly mob then you had greg depalma and robert varraco beating a gambino solider in a shopping centre with loads of witnesses you have joe D`anna detroit capo beating a man near to death inside his own restaurant in front of loads of witnesses and they are meant to be the family that does not use violence many other cases i think we sometimes forget they are all thugs really a bonanno capo and three of his guys stabbed these kids for throwing a brick through there clubs window anyway they stabbed the wrong kids and all of the guys plead out getting 5 6 years each
That’s true. I guess we forget sometimes that mob guys are still street guys, the temper and penchant for violence is still there.
I guess the main difference is 20 years ago this would’ve never materialized into a tangible legal issue, it would’ve got tucked under the rug.

true i could see this whole thing collapsing if the guy once he hears that the guy is a mob capo could refuse to testify there is fear there even today there is a good chance the guy could suffer intimdation or maybe even a beating i doubt they would kill him esp in this day and age i know last year this rat in new jeresy who owned a strip club caught a beating
then again i could be wrong if there is a video lovaglia is getting convicted and doing time
to be honest we have to be careful how we see this aswell because it could be the old school thing if he lets say hurt a family member then he will be defending his familys honour or if he was going after his girl or something a capo 40 years ago would be expected to do the same thing
now it could be something petty but i will decide how stupid this is once i know more
It really doesn’t and like TheMafia noted maybe this was something personal etc although even still it should of been handled a lot differently. This family can’t get out its own way.

Really this guy is no good ,he could have beat his ass . He didn’t have to slice him up. If the guy is s tough guy he should beat him down .to blind side the freakin guy .all I say is be a man bout it. Go right up to the guy face and fight him. Old school. That’s just my thoughts.
