Legendary Colombo Underboss Franzese Appeal Denied

Last January legendary Colombo crime family underboss John “Sonny” Franzese was sentenced to eight years in prison for a racketeering conspiracy conviction from a 2008 case.

The longtime Colombo family wise guy is now 95 years old and which could mean he would spend the rest of his life in prison. Franzese filed an appeal in hopes of a reduced sentence but the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the conviction. With time served and credit for good behavior, Franzese is scheduled to be released in June of 2017 which leaves a little hope that he could still see the streets again as a free man.

John “Sonny” Franzese

At one time Franzese was a regular at the famed Copacabana club often seen in the company of Sammy Davis Jr and Frank Sinatra. An FBI agent testified that he contemplated having his own son killed after he began cooperating with the feds and he once bragged about murdering sixty people over his years in the mafia. He was caught on a recording made by a mob turncoat bragging about how many guys he had killed and how he was never caught. He also recommended the best way to get rid of a body was to dry out body parts in a microwave and then grind them up in a garbage disposal.
