There is a new mafia movie in the works set to be released in 2019 called APALACHIN.
The indie feature tells the true story of trooper Ed Croswell and the infamous 1957 Mafia summit in upstate New York. Croswell played by star David Arquette played a key role in busting up the meeting which led to many arrests and unwanted exposure for the American Mafia. The script was written by Jon Carlo and Danny A. Abeckaser who is also directing and will co-star. Arquette is accompanied by a talented cast that includes Robert Davi, Gary Pastore, and PJ Byrne along with two beautiful ladies Jennifer Esposito and Jamie-Lynn Sigler. According to reports, the movie has already begun shooting.

Apalachin certainly seems to have the potential to be a pretty good movie about the Mafia. It will be interesting to see how in-depth it goes and how historically accurate it ends up being. The historic event certainly played a key role in the history of Cosa Nostra and many believe it to be the beginning of the mob’s ultimate decline. The film will feature some high profile mobsters like Vito Genovese, Albert Anastasia, and Carmine Galante. You can find a list of the full cast and who plays who in the upcoming film here.
Along with Apalachin are a couple more Mafia movies that will be released in the next year or so. Hopefully, they are all as good as some of the classics we have come to enjoy over the years.
