After some bumps in the road it seems the John Gotti movie is back on track moving toward a January production start. The Gotti biopic is now set to be directed by Kevin Connolly and to feature John Travolta as the former New York mafia crime boss. Connolly directed episodes of the hit HBO series “Entourage” along with the ESPN documentary Big Shot. The movie is based on the book Shadow of My Father written by John A. (Junior) Gotti and investigative reported Peter Lance. The movie tells the story of Gambino family boss John Gotti, who lived and died by the mafia code and his relationship with his son who followed in his footsteps. Its tabbed as a never before seen look into the Gotti family sage a story of both betrayal and redemption.
The Gotti movie project has been attached to some well known Hollywood elite’s like Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan, Barry Levinson, and Nick Cassavetes among others none of which worked out. The movie originally named Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father is said to be moving toward a January production start. Financing for the movie is being supplied by Herrick Entertainment, Fiore Films, and Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films. The film will be released domestically by Lionsgate Premiere through its deal with E/F/O. Both Travolta and Connolly are believed to be attending this years Toronto International Film Festival to drum up interest in foreign sales.
