It has once again been a very interesting year for the mafia also known as Cosa Nostra across the country. Some mafia families have begun to re-establish themselves with stable hierarchies in place while others continue on in a state of disarray.
The American mafia has decreased in size over the last couple of decades, but the remaining families continue to run various rackets generating millions of dollars in illegal proceeds. Over the past year, many of the mob families have seen changes at the top of their respective hierarchies due to law enforcement efforts , death natural or otherwise, or movement in a new direction.
About the mafia has put together an up to date list of the 2016 mafia leaders for some of the organized crime families still in existence across the country. It lists the current mafia family bosses along with other alleged members which fill the ranks and help to run their respective families. The information found in a list comes from various sources, including both knowledgeable mob sources, law enforcement, and news reports among others. Although Cosa Nostra is not the secret society it once was these lists are not an exact science, but we strive to be as accurate as possible.
